A talking point is an idea, part of a bulleted list or summaries for a public speaker. A think tank will launch talking points from media personalities in order to frame a debate in their favor, standardizing the responses of sympathizers to their unique cause while simultaneously co-opting the language of debaters. Talking points are often combined with the technique of argumentum ad nauseam - continuous repetition within media outlets until accepted as fact by the intended target audience.
